On-campus and iCampus learning both ask one question: what can a student master? The Media Center asks a different one — what can a student make, and who can it reach? It is the part of I-UNIK that takes a lesson, a broadcast, an idea or a piece of code and puts it in front of an audience beyond the classroom.
The Media Center does not replace what I-UNIK already teaches. It gives it somewhere to go.
Where it sits
One school, four parts
Academics
The curriculum, the campus, the Continuous Learning & Performance Assessment standard.
iCampus
The same standard, extended to students who cannot yet reach Careysburg every day.
Systems
The software I-UNIK builds and runs, for itself and for other institutions.
Media Center
Where student and teacher work is produced and published beyond I-UNIK's own walls.
Six divisions, one center
What we produce
Every division below can start small — one weekly activity, run by students under staff supervision — before it becomes a standing unit.
Broadcast & Video
Video production and livestreaming of classes and events, so a lesson taught in Careysburg can be watched anywhere.
Audio & Podcasting
Student and staff podcasts and audio production — lessons and interviews in a format that travels well on low bandwidth.
Publishing & Journalism
A digital school newspaper, student journalism, and a growing digital library and research archive.
Creative & Design
Graphic design, creative media, and AI-assisted content creation behind everything else the Center produces.
Code & Build
Coding, software development, and AI experimentation — student-built tools and projects, not just lessons about technology.
Instruction & Outreach
Teacher instructional media and exchanges that connect I-UNIK students with learners outside Liberia.
The shift it creates
Learner → Creator → Innovator → Publisher → Problem Solver
Not Learner → Exam → Certificate. What a student makes here is meant to be seen, used, and built on — the same standard I-UNIK already holds every lesson to: not what did I learn, but what problems can I solve with what I learned.
Getting involved
From idea to published work
-
1
Pick a division and pitch a piece
A broadcast, an article, a podcast episode, a design, a build — brought to the staff member supervising that division.
-
2
Produce it with staff support
Students do the work; staff supervise the equipment, the schedule, and what's ready to go out under the I-UNIK name.
-
3
Publish it
Out through the Media Center's own channels — broadcast, print, or online — to an audience beyond I-UNIK's own campus.
